Donations to the AWL Foundation

In 2006, the Association for Women Lawyers created a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation – AWL Foundation, Inc. – to continue the educational and charitable efforts that we had previously undertaken.

The foundation funds three annual scholarships: the AWLF Scholarship, the Virginia A. Pomeroy Memorial Scholarship, and the Shirley S. Abrahamson Scholarship. All are given to women-identified law students at Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin. These scholarships have been awarded by AWL or the Foundation for over 20 years and have provided more than $220,000 in financial assistance to over 90 students working to complete their legal education.

Donations to the Foundation are a great way to honor a friend, family member or colleague who has made a difference in your legal career. Celebrate her wedding, the birth of a child, or a new job by helping to pave the future path of a young woman lawyer. Your contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Donations can be made online or by check made payable to AWL Foundation and mailed to:

AWL Foundation
3322 N. 92nd Street
Milwaukee, WI 53222

Please note if the donation is made in honor of, or in memory of, a specific person and how we can let that person know.

Thank you for your generosity and support.

Women in the Law:
Celebrating 150 Years

AWL Foundation is accepting donations on behalf of the "Women in the Law: Celebrating 150 Years" project.

June 17, 2024, will be the 150th anniversary of Lavinia Goodell's admission to practice law in Rock County, Wisconsin. Goodell's admission led the way for development of the law and diversification of the profession.

Join Wisconsin’s legal community in celebrating 150 years of women in the law and the significant contributions women have made to Wisconsin’s rich legal history.

Your tax-deductible gift supports a number of activities throughout 2024. Questions? Contact Mary E. Burke.
