Welcome to the Association for Women Lawyers! For nearly five decades, AWL has connected, supported, and advanced women in the legal profession throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Whether you are a law student, a new attorney, an experienced practitioner, a member of the judiciary, or a legal professional working in a non-traditional role, AWL offers opportunities to build meaningful relationships, develop professionally, and give back to our community.

This year marks an exciting new chapter for our organization. After completing a comprehensive strategic planning process, AWL is now focused on implementation. As part of that effort, members can expect to see several changes throughout the year, including updates to our governance structure, enhancements to our website and communications, and the introduction of new programs and events designed to better serve the evolving needs of our membership and to reflect AWL’s goals.

What will not change is our commitment to fostering a strong and supportive community of women in the law. AWL remains a place where members can connect with colleagues across practice areas and career stages, learn from respected speakers and leaders, exchange ideas and referrals, develop leadership skills, and build lasting friendships. Through our educational programming, networking opportunities, discussion groups, and volunteer initiatives, we strive to create value for every member.

One of the highlights of our year continues to be Women Judges' Night, a signature event celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of not only women in the judiciary, but also women leaders in the bar more broadly. We are also proud that proceeds from this event support scholarships awarded through the AWL Foundation to women law students at Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School. Through these scholarships and our broader efforts to promote and support women in the legal profession, we are investing in the next generation of leaders.

As President, I am honored to serve this remarkable organization and the talented individuals who make it such a vibrant community. I am excited about what lies ahead and look forward to working alongside our members as we continue to grow, evolve, and strengthen AWL for years to come.
